30 new Richmond area restaurants that opened this year
Check out these new restaurants, bagel shops and tasting rooms that have opened in the Richmond area this year.
Ugly Dumpling
Ugly Dumpling is now open at 1601 Willow Lawn Drive, #840.
The Fishin' Pig
The Fishin’ Pig, a popular Farmville barbecue and fried seafood spot, has opened its first Richmond outpost at 4028 Cox Road, Suite J in Glen Allen.
Ripple Ray’s
Ripple Ray’s is a Grateful Dead-themed bar that has opened in Carytown at 3123 W. Cary St.
Torch Kitchen + Bar
Torch Kitchen + Bar is now open in Midlothian serving Louisiana fare with a twist at 2077 Walmart Way.
Shawarma Inc
Shawarma Inc is now open in former Lebanese Bakery spot, serving shawarma sandwiches, falafel and fatayer, which is a savory meat pie, among other dishes. 6215 W. Broad St.
Cava Glen Allen
Cava has opened a location in Glen Allen at 9964 Brook Road.
Roots Natural Ktichen
opened its third Richmond-area location in January in Midlothian.
Whisk at the Library of Virginia
French pastry shop Whisk to open a café in the Library of Virginia on Jan. 6. The new cafe will replace the Can Can Cafe that was in the same location.Â
Chipotle
A new Chipotle Mexican Grill is now open in Midlothian at 13651 Lake Eloise Loop.
Shirley's
Shirley's is a new fine dining restaurant at the Hotel Petersburg in Petersburg.
Brazen
Brazen, which focuses on braised dishes, opened at 2028 W. Cary St.
Sweetgreen
The first for the Richmond area has opened in Carytown at 3502 W. Cary St.
TBT El Gallo
TBT El Gallo is a Vaquero-inspired Mexican restaurant and bar that opened in the former Kreggers at Hand space at 2614 W. Cary St.
Scott's Shawarma Jackson Ward
Scott's Shawarma has opened a second Richmond location in Jackson Ward at 404 N. 2nd St.
Rice Field
New Vietnamese restaurant Rice Field is now open in North Chesterfield at 9031 W. Broad St., from the owners of Pho Thien Phat.
Chez Nous
Chez Nous, a wine bar and shop, is now open at 6 W. Cary St. in downtown Richmond.
Petit Four
Petit Four, a bakery from Jardin restaurant owner Donnie Glass, is now open at 1 N. Lombardy St.
7 Brew
7 Brew drive-thru has opened a second location in Midlothian at 11601 Midlothian Tpke.
The Smoothie Spot
The Smoothie Spot is headed to Gayton Crossing at 9782 Gayton Road.
Julio’s Bagels
Julio’s Bagels, from Pizza Bones owners Ashley Patino, is now open on Brookland Park Boulevard, selling naturally leavened bagels.
Cirrus Vodka tasting room
The Cirrus Vodka tasting room is now open in Scott’s Addition in the complex at 1320 Summit Ave.
Chimbo Sandwich Shoppe.
Chimbo Sandwich Shoppe is now open in the space formerly occupied by 8 ½ Church Hill, (2709 E. Marshall St.). Chimbo Sandwich Shoppe sells 8- and 16-inch sandwiches that are packed to the brim with good stuff.
Brick House Diner
Brick House Diner has opened its new location at 100 Schofield Dr. in Westchester Commons.
Nate's Bagels
Nate's Bagels has opened its eagerly anticipated second location in Scott's Addition at 1219 Highpoint Ave.
Polpetti
Polpetti Italian deli opened its second location near VCU's Monroe Park campus at 515 N. Harrison St.
Slack Tide Fish Co.
Slack Tide Fish Co., a seafood-focused restaurant helmed by chef Caleb Shriver, is now open at the Ballast complex at 1320 Summit Ave.
Emmy Squared Pizza
Emmy Squared Pizza, known for its crispy-bottomed Detroit-style pizza, is now open at 2225 Old Brick Road in Glen Allen.
Solaire
Solaire Rooftop is now open on the 20th floor of Shamin Hotels’ Hampton Inn Suites in downtown Richmond.
Keffiyeh Cafe
Keffiyeh Cafe opened in North Chesterfield, selling several trending drinks and desserts at 316 N. Arch Road.
The Beet Box
The Beet Box opened a second location in Church Hill at 2400 Jefferson Ave.
Nouveau Provisions
Nouveau Provisions, a café and wine lounge, opened in Carytown at 3423 W. Cary St.
