15 new restaurants coming to Richmond area

The Granite Grill & Bar
Looking for a new spot to book in Bon Aire next year? The folks behind and , are bringing聽聽to Stony Point Shopping Center at Huguenot Road and Forest Hill Avenue.
The Granite Grill & Bar is expected to open in late spring.
Ugly Dumpling
Ugly Dumpling, a dim sum chain on the East Coast, is headed to Willow Lawn inb 2025. After their initial estimate that they'd be open by Nov. 20, 2024, they faced unavoidable delays related to construction.
Roots Natural Ktichen
is celebrating the grand opening of its third Richmond-area location on Jan. 11.
Whisk at the Library of Virginia
French pastry shop Whisk to open a caf茅 in the Library of Virginia on Jan. 6. The new cafe will replace the Can Can Cafe that was in the same location.聽
Shake Shack Short Pump
For smash burger-lovers, a new聽 is in the works for the Richmond area in 2025. Scheduled to open in Short Pump (12170 W. Broad St.) in the West Village mixed-use development.聽
2 new restaurants from Eat Restaurant Partners
In the mood for inventive fusions cuisine? EAT Restaurant Partners is planning to open at least two new restaurants in Richmond in 2025. Look out for Wong鈥檚 Tacos in Hanover on Chamberlayne Avenue and for their currently unnamed Italian concept for Short Pump.
Hog Haven
骋辞辞肠丑濒补苍诲鈥檚 is opening a Richmond location at 238 S. Pine St. by spring of 2025. The shop will sell retail pork products and house-made sandwiches.聽
Centro
In 2025, Maria and Michael Oseguera,聽Richmond restaurateurs,聽are bringing a new restaurant called Centro to Midlothian's Westchester Commons. Another one of their restaurants is Oceano.
Qdoba near VCU
Qdoba, the fast-casual fast food chain, will open a location near Virginia Commonwealth University鈥檚 Monroe Park campus in April of 2025 at 933 W. Grace St.
Ballast
The folks behind the Ballast project in Scott's Addition will be bringing Slack Tide Fish Co., a global coastal restaurant and raw bar, to the space, as well as a Yellow Umbrella market. A Cirrus vodka tasting room is also planned for the space. The Yellow Umbrella and Cirrus tasting room are expected to open in February, with Slack Tide Fish Co. expected to open in March.
Fat Kid Sandwiches
plans to open at聽1110 E. Main St. in downtown Richmond in the early months of 2025.聽.
The Fishin' Pig
The Fishin' Pig,聽a BBQ and seafood joint from Farmville, is headed 4028-J Cox Road in Glen Allen in the former Hurley's Tavern spot. They anticipate they will open in the second week of January.聽
Brick House Diner
Brick House Diner is planting itself in a new Westchester Commons location at 100 Schofield Road. The Midlothian Turnpike location (pictured here) will close when the new location opens. They aim to be open in early 2025.
Lucky AF
A new location for Lucky AF is headed to 4701 Forest Hill Ave. this fall. Another Lucky AF will be headed to Short Pump next year.
Wong's Tacos
A new Wong鈥檚 Tacos is headed for Hanover at 9206 Rutlandshire Drive. It aims to open late summer.
Civita Italia
Civita Italia, a new Italian concept from the EAT Restaurant Group, will open in Short Pump this spring in the same shopping center as Red Salt Chophouse & Sushi with chef Kevin LaCivita as executive chef.
Slack Tide Fish Co.
Slack Tide Fish Co., heading to the Ballast project in Scott鈥檚 Addition from The Yellow Umbrella, is aiming to open this spring.
Lafayette Tavern
Lafayette Tavern from the Giavos family is headed to 1011 Lafayette St. in the former Lafayette Pharmacy building near Stella's. It is aiming to open in the fall.
Sarah & Co. Caf茅
Sarah & Co. Caf茅聽is headed to Church Hill North at 2600 Nine Mile Road. It is planning to open early this summer.
The Purrfect Bean
The Purrfect Bean cat cafe is set to open in April in The Fan at 214 N. Lombardy St.
The Smoothie Spot
The Smoothie Spot is headed to Gayton Crossing at 9782 Gayton Road.
