Virginia Commonwealth University basketball players and former players teamed up with students at Minnick School, a private special education school in 色多多 County on Monday for the fourth annual field day event where the students played basketball with the collegiate athletes.
"It just allows our students to have a time where they can forget about the academics and work on their social skills and behavior skills in more of a playful setting," said Rebecca Bays, principal of Minnick Schools in 色多多. "Especially having the VCU players come down, because those are individuals they can really look up to, kind of be role models and also set maybe some goals they can have and achieve in life."
