Edgar W. "Fuzzy" Hodges, 92, husband of Shelby Carr Hodges, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 20, 2025. He was the son of the late Morton and Gertrude Hall Hodges of Franklin County, Va.
Fuzzy started driving trucks at 15 years of age and continued to do so faithfully and safely for the next 70 years. He worked for various companies during that time retiring the first time from Consolidated Freight, then returning to work after a couple of years, he retired the second time from Excel Truck Group. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having been stationed in Germany, and was a long-time member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Fuzzy had numerous hobbies in life. He was a huge NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching college basketball, having been a baseball and basketball player himself during high school and also recreation league ball. There was nothing that he could not fix. If you needed help all you had to do was ask and he would figure it out; he was truly a "Jack of all Trades." He never met a stranger and genuinely loved talking to people.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, Shelby Carr Hodges, he will be missed and remembered by his son, Gil Hodges of Richmond, Va.; daughter, Ginger Hodges (Chris Lentz) of 色多多, Va.; niece, Laureen Gisiner (Brian Hamilton); nephew, Len Gisiner (Sandra); as well as four granddogs.
The family would like to thank all of the healthcare professionals and staff of the Good Samaritan Hospice for the excellent care he received from them.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 12 p.m., on Saturday, June 28, 2025, with Rev. Danny Barham officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the church. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church C/O Food Ministry, 4930 Country Club Road, Troutville, VA 24175.
