New York Yankees third baseman Oswaldo Cabrera was taken off the field in an ambulance after suffering an ankle injury during his team’s 11-5 win over the Seattle Mariners. Cabrera sustained the injury in the ninth inning after sliding awkwardly in an attempt to reach back for the plate and score the Yankees’ 11th run of the game. The 26-year-old could be seen in agony as he stayed on the ground for several minutes as medical staff treated his injury. Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Cabrera’s left ankle was placed in a brace before he was transported to the hospital with team athletic trainer Tim Lentych. “I think everyone understands it was a pretty serious situation. So, just praying for our guy tonight and hoping for the best. Trust that he's in good hands as he goes through the night here,” said Aaron Boone. ” As he was being carted off the field, Aaron Judge told reporters that Cabrera asked him, “Did I score?” which Judge noted “shows you what type of guy he is.” Cabrera is in his fourth season in the MLB and is currently hitting .243 this year while also notching one home run and 12 RBIs.
