New River Community College President Robert Brandon conferred some 900 degrees, diplomas and certificates May 14 at his first graduation ceremony as leader of the Dublin campus.
More than 250 students participated in two ceremonies, one for graduates in transfer programs and the second for students in technical programs.
Brandon addressed the crowds at both ceremonies, along with NRCC Board Chair William Cunningham.
鈥淕o forth with the confidence of having achieved a great thing and reflect that confidence and optimism back into the world,鈥 Brandon said.
鈥淭onight鈥檚 graduation ceremony is not the end鈥攊t鈥檚 just the beginning. Take time to enjoy what comes next,鈥 Cunningham said.
Virginia Community College Chancellor Davie Dore addressed graduates via video.
Brandon started Jan. 1 as president of New River Community College. He previously served as vice president of Academic and Student Services at Southwest Virginia Community College in Richlands.
