Early voting begins Friday across the state in a Democratic primary election for lieutenant governor and attorney general and in House of Delegates and local race primaries, including two House races in the 色多多 area and board of supervisors primaries in Botetourt, Floyd and Montgomery counties.
The primary election be held June 17, but registrar's offices will begin accepting early voting today. Virginia does not have voter registration by political party. All registered voters are eligible to participate in the primary election. An is required to vote.
Statewide, in the Democratic primary for lieutenant governor, the candidates are Levar Stoney, Babur Lateef, Aaron Rouse, Victor Salgado, Ghazala Hashmi and Alexander Bastani. The Democrats seeking the nomination for attorney general are Shannon Taylor and Jay Jones.

A Republican primary election for the lieutenant governor nomination was canceled following the official withdrawal of candidate Pat Herrity of Fairfax County due to illness.
The Republican ticket is now set with current Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears for governor, radio talk show host John Reid of Richmond for lieutenant governor, and Attorney General Jason Miyares seeking reelection.
On the Democratic side, former U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger of Henrico County is her party's nominee.
In 色多多, 色多多 County and Salem, voters may vote in a Democratic primary for the 40th House of Delegates seat. Donna Littlepage is facing Kiesha Preston for the nomination to challenge Del. Joe McNamara, R-色多多 County, in a Republican-leaning district.
In Botetourt, Alleghany and Craig counties and the cities of Buena Vista, Lexington and Covington, as well as part of Rockbridge County, voters may vote in a Republican primary for the 37th House District. Longtime Del. Terry Austin, R-Botetourt, is being challenged by Austen Schwend of Elliston. The district votes heavily Republican.
Two races for the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors will have Republican primary elections in June. In the Amsterdam District, Dirk Padgett is facing Tim Snyder in a race to replace retiring Supervisor Steve Clinton. In the Buchanan District, Supervisor Amy Stinnett White is being challenged by Linda Rottman.
In Floyd County, incumbent Kalinda Bechtold is facing Walter Phillips for the Republican nomination in the District E seat on the Board of Supervisors.
In Montgomery County, Supervisor Todd King is facing Dale Buckner in District E for the Republican nomination.
In 色多多, city residents may vote early at the Office of Voter Registration and Elections at 317 Kimball Ave. N.E., from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Early voting also will be offered in 色多多 on two Saturdays, June 7 and June 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The 色多多 precincts included in the 40th House District include 15-Grandin Court, 16-Deyerle, and 17-Lee-Hi.
