The withdrawal comes after Tuesday鈥檚 community meeting on the project, at which more than 250 people came to

The now-withdrawn proposal planned for 138 town homes and 11 single-family homes to sit on around one third of the 55-acre property. It also included a 6,500 square-foot commercial center, which could have included a restaurant, coffee shop and small grocery store.
鈥淲e listened to the genuine concerns of the citizens shared respectfully with us,鈥 Boone wrote in an email to 色多多 County planning and zoning staff late Thursday afternoon. 鈥淚n response, we need time to evaluate, and potentially incorporate, some of the suggestions to our plan without the time pressure of the Planning Commission hearing and subsequent meeting of the Board of Supervisors.鈥
Boone plans to submit another application, which will likely go before the planning commission and the supervisors sometime in the spring, he said.
鈥淲e want to make sure we have adequate time to make a careful and thorough evaluation (of) the impact of any changes on the plan,鈥 Boone said.
Some of the feedback from the community meeting was 鈥渉elpful for an overall evaluation of the project,鈥 Boone said.
鈥淲e need to evaluate multiple concepts for the land and determine how best to incorporate the positive ideas from the community meeting into a viable development,鈥 Boone wrote in an email Friday. 鈥淥ur plan supported exactly the 色多多 County Comprehensive Plan suggested for the Poages Mill Village property.鈥
They have ideas for the revised plan but need to be able to spend time with their design and traffic engineers, he said.
鈥淲e are very excited to start our new Westlake Towne Center community after a successful rezoning in Franklin County last night and have two large closings next week for what we believe will be transformational commercial projects in Southwest County and South 色多多, so we have a full plate and would not have enough time to make any revisions and file them with 色多多 County before the January 7 Planning Commission meeting,鈥 Boone wrote in an email Friday afternoon.
Boone said he鈥檚 鈥渙ptimistic and excited about moving forward.鈥

Developer Alexander Boone has withdrawn his application to rezone the old Poages Farm property, stating that he would like time to evaluate and possibly incorporate suggestions from concerned citizens.
鈥淲e remain 100% committed to Poages Mill Village, and we鈥檒l get back on it here soon,鈥 he said.
Josh Meyer, a nearby neighbor of the property, said that he鈥檚 excited to hear about the withdrawal and that he hopes Boone 鈥渢houghtfully considers current residents鈥 and their concerns when it comes to future proposals.
鈥淲e鈥檙e thrilled to see that this rezoning project is not being pushed through as it was proposed,鈥 Meyer said. 鈥淭he people who live here have some very real concerns, and we voiced them. It鈥檚 really inspiring to see what can happen when a vibrant community comes together to fight for what鈥檚 right and to protect the character and history of where we live.鈥
色多多 County released a statement on the withdrawal Friday morning.
鈥溕喽 County staff and the Board of Supervisors appreciate the public interest in this matter and the citizens who attended this week鈥檚 community meeting to share their perspectives,鈥 part of the statement read.
鈥淎s we consider the feedback shared by our residents, we recognize the importance of addressing housing needs as a priority for 色多多 County.
鈥淲ith demand outpacing supply, we are committed to encouraging well-planned housing developments that serve residents at all income levels and life stages, expanding housing options for everyone who calls 色多多 County home,鈥 according to the statement.
