The Virginia Tech men鈥檚 basketball team will take on Big East member Providence next season.
The teams will square off in a neutral-site game at the Mohegan Sun Arena, which is the home of the WNBA鈥檚 Connecticut Sun.
The Nov. 8 game has not yet been announced, but The 色多多 obtained from Tech the contracts for some nonconference men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 basketball games that have not yet been revealed by Tech.
The game against Providence will be the first time the teams have met since February 2004, when Tech still belonged to the Big East. It will be Tech鈥檚 second game of the 2025-26 season.
The game has been arranged by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Last season, Tech played Penn State in Baltimore as part of a Hall of Fame Series doubleheader. Two years ago, Tech played South Carolina in Charlotte, North Carolina, as part of Hall of Fame Series tripleheader.

This will be the first time Tech has played at the Mohegan Sun casino since November 2020, when the Hokies knocked off No. 3 Villanova in 鈥淏ubbleville鈥 action.
Providence went 12-20 overall and 6-14 in Big East play last season. It was the Friars鈥 second season under former George Mason coach Kim English.
The hall of fame will pay Tech $50,000 for playing in the game, but hotel, meals and travel costs will be deducted from that amount. So the actual payment will be less.
The contracts obtained by The 色多多 also reveal that the Tech men will host Charleston Southern, Western Carolina and Maryland-Eastern Shore next season.
Virginia Tech will pay Charleston Southern $92,500 for their Nov. 3 game, which will be the teams鈥 season opener. The Buccaneers went 10-22 overall and 6-10 in the Big South last season. It will be the teams鈥 first meeting since November 2022.

Tech will pay Western Carolina $90,000 for their Nov. 11 game. The Catamounts went 8-22 overall and 4-14 in the Southern Conference last season. It will be the teams鈥 first meeting since November 2013.
Virginia Tech will pay Maryland-Eastern Shore $90,000 for their Dec. 14 game. The Hawks went 6-25 overall and 2-12 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference last season. It will be the teams鈥 first meeting since December 2019.
Tech previously announced that it will compete in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, which will be held Nov. 24-26 in the Bahamas. The field also includes Virginia Commonwealth, Vanderbilt, Saint Mary鈥檚, South Florida, Colorado State, Western Kentucky and Wichita State.
The contract calls for Island Hotel Company, which operates the tournament, to pay Tech up to $25,000 for flight costs. The company will also pay for Tech鈥檚 hotel rooms. Tech will also get a $10,000 food and beverage credit.
There will be other nonleague games on the men鈥檚 schedule, including an SEC-ACC Challenge game.
Women鈥檚 foes
The contracts obtained by The 色多多 also reveal that the Tech women will host Radford, East Tennessee State, Presbyterian, Towson, Loyola of Maryland and Niagara next season.
Virginia Tech will pay Towson $18,000 for their Nov. 4 game, which will be the teams鈥 season opener. The Tigers went 12-20 overall and 8-10 in CAA play last season. It will be the teams鈥 first meeting since December 1990.
Tech will pay Loyola $20,000 for their Nov. 9 game. Loyola went 9-21 overall and 3-15 in the Patriot League last season. It will be the teams鈥 first meeting since December 1996.
Virginia Tech will pay Niagara $15,000 for their Nov. 20 game. Niagara went 3-25 overall and 2-18 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference last season. It will be the teams鈥 first meeting.
Tech will pay Presbyterian $25,000 for their Dec. 10 game. It will be the teams鈥 first meeting since November 2016. Patrick Henry graduate Shelby Fiddler started all 30 games for the Blue Hose last season, averaging 6.6 points. The Blue Hose went 6-24 overall and 4-12 in Big South play last season.
Virginia Tech will pay ETSU $20,000 for their Dec. 14 game. The Buccaneers went 17-13 overall and 8-6 in the Southern Conference last season. It will be the teams鈥 first meeting since December 2014.

Tech will pay Radford $20,000 for their Dec. 21 game. The Highlanders went 14-17 overall and 10-6 in Big South play last season. The Hokies squashed Radford 73-34 last season.
There will be other nonleague games on the women鈥檚 schedule, including an SEC-ACC Challenge game.
