Blacksburg Town Councilman Liam Watson was arrested Wednesday after being charged with election fraud.
He was indicted by a Montgomery County grand jury, according to the state police.
Watson, 24, turned himself in to state police, according to a news release from the agency.

At the direction of the Virginia Attorney General鈥檚 office, state police initiated an investigation in March into an allegation of election fraud, according to the release.
On July 23, a grand jury indicted Watson on three felony counts of election fraud and one felony count of illegally voting in an election, according to the release.
No other information was released.
The 色多多 contacted Watson multiple times in recent days about the situation and he declined to comment.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service assisted the state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation with the investigation, according to the release.
Watson has been released on bond, according to the release.
Watson鈥檚 attorney, John Fishwick of 色多多, released a statement Wednesday evening that gave some background on Watson and ended with: 鈥淲e look forward to appearing in court.鈥
Watson, a former employee of the state Democratic Party, was elected to the Blacksburg Town Council as a write-in candidate last year.
